Message from the Principal
Thank you for visiting our website. UTC@MediaCityUK offers the most exciting digital education for students from 14 – 19 across the Manchester area. This is your chance to get a head start for a career in the creative and digital industries, and to gain the qualifications and experience employers are looking for in growing industries that now account for one in every ten jobs in the North West.
Combining core academic subjects with the opportunity to study and gain practical experience in TV & Film, Graphics & Design, Radio & Audio or Interactive Media & Gaming, our curriculum will enthuse, engage and motivate every learner to success. You will be learning skills for jobs in MediaCityUK and abroad. You will be engaged in developing real TV, Radio and Games using industry equipment in a new building designed for this unique curriculum.
You will be supported by committed teachers, industry partners such as ITV North, Adobe and dock 10, and our sponsors – who are all passionate and successful at what they do. You will be part of the first UK education offer which is directed by the real needs of the digital industry designed and delivered by experts.
I know that choosing the right secondary school or college is one of the most important decisions a parent or carer will make, and that choosing a college which is brand new can feel like a challenge. You can see a lot more information about what the UTC offers on this website and in our prospectus, but over the next few months we will also be arranging a series of events for students and parents to find out more, to meet me and other members of the UTC team, and have a chance to ask any questions. Please do take a look at the details on our events pages and come along to one.
I have spent my working life in education and technology and I am delighted to have the chance to lead the UTC cannot wait for the opening.
Do get in touch with me directly to discuss any aspect of the UTC.
I look forward to you joining me for this unique and exciting opportunity.
