Year 10 French

Curriculum Subject: French

Year 10

Exam Board: AQA

The students will be following a new specification this year in MFL

There will no longer be any controlled assessments or course work.

Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing will each be tested in a final examination and will each be worth 25% of the total marks.

Students will also be expected to translate both to and from English and French.

The translation from English to French will form part of the Writing paper.

The content will be slightly different from previous years as it will include more relevant and up to date themes.

Useful Websites:

www.linguanet-worldwide.org   Offers level tests and lists of resources for a huge number of languages. You are given the option to find resources to learn a language using different languages. For example, there are 150+ resources for Beginners Spanish in English and 15 in Chinese (August 2014).

www.languagesonline.org.uk

A good way to start, mostly for grammar, vocabulary and reading skills. Choose Spanish from the left hand side menu. It is textbook-based. If you go to Caminos 3 that is the level that we are working at for our IG exam. There is also Grammar, Vocabulary, Topics and Quizzes.

All of these websites will help you revise what you need for the Listening and Reading exams.

www.bbc.co.uk/schools/gcsebitesize/french

Very good quality resources. The first is mainly for GCSE exam practice (grammar practice, tips on exam skills and sample tasks). It’s organized by skill (eg Reading or Listening) and then by topic
