Dress code

We want you to feel work ready. To feel confident when meeting employers, pitching ideas or delivering products. So we don’t have a school uniform, we have a technical dress code that all students follow.

Please note: Trousers and skirts (Year 12 & 13) can be bought from a range of high street shops or supermarkets. We do not ask students to go to a specific uniform supplier for these. There is a compulsory skirt for Year 10 and 11 girls which can be bought via our supplier.

For shoes, we ask only that all students wear flat, leather, work appropriate shoes, not boots. Again, we do not specify a supplier so that we are making the dress code suitable for all budgets.

Coats: All students are expected to bring/wear a coat depending on weather conditions.

Bags: All students are expected to bring books, equipment, or PE gear in a suitable waterproof bag. These should be of a size that can fit into our lockers.

Appearance

Hair should be neat and tidy. No excessive make-up to be worn.

Headgear worn for religious purposes is permitted but must be plain with no patterns.

One pair of small stud size earrings only may be worn in the ears.
No other jewellery should be worn and no body piercings (including ear gauges/stretches) or tattoos should be visible, with the exception of religious requirements.

The Principal takes the final decision regarding the suitability of clothing and appearance. In serious cases where in the opinion of the Principal a student’s appearance is unacceptable, the student may be withdrawn from lessons, or in the case of a sixth form student required to return home to change. If a student is required to return home, the parent will be informed of the situation prior to the student leaving the site. Students and parents are requested to ask if unsure of any aspects of the dress code.

PE Uniform

For physical education the clothing requirements are determined by the nature of the activity. This is made clear well before the activity takes place.
